Construction Update No. 31
Pioneer Way Reconstruction Project

January 3, 2012

Back to Work for Strider Construction

With the onset of a new year, Strider Construction is back at work today concentrating on punchlist items and putting the finishing touches on the Ireland to Ilwaco block. Here is a snapshot of what you will see them working on over the next two or three weeks.

● Sawcutting the decorative grid in the new sidewalk between Ireland and Ilwaco will start tomorrow. As we know from earlier in the project, this work is rather messy and noisy but should be completed in about two days. The same subcontractor will be boring holes for street signs, the railing extension across from Mike’s Mini Mart and the last of the Lions Club flag holders.

● Repair of windows, thresholds, fascia and other items damaged during construction will be coordinated with property and business owners over the next couple of weeks. General storefront clean-up along the entire length of the project will occur toward the conclusion of Strider’s efforts.

● Work should begin later this week and continue into next week to install tree guards and power connections in locations where trees are planted outside of planting beds. In addition, a number of the large, ceramic planter pots will be placed within the Ireland to Ilwaco block.

● As part of the re-designed parking area in front of Mike’s Mini Mart, the contractor will install black bollards (36-inch high metal posts) to safely separate the sidewalk from the parking spaces. Across the street from this location, the safety railing will be extended to connect with the wooden railing at the entrance steps to Mi Pueblo.

Please feel free to drop us a note or give us a call if you have questions or concerns as Strider moves toward completing the Pioneer Way project. And please note as well that City staff will continue to be available to hear concerns and provide piping hot project news at 9:00 am every Tuesday morning at Angelo’s Caffe.
